O debate sobre eventuais Restituições de bens culturais retirados de África no contexto colonial - artefactos, documentos, arquivos, fotografias, entre outros - é uma das questões do pan-africanismo que nunca foi resolvida, desde os idos anos 50.
Em 2018, entretanto, com a apresentação do Relatório produzido pelo Economista Senegalês, Felwine Sarr, e a Historiadora de Arte Francesa, Bénédicte Savoy, encomendada pelo presidente Francês, Emmanuel Macron, o assunto voltou ao centro da esfera pública. É nesse contexto que Mbenga Artes e Reflexões começou a produzir reportagens, notícias e artigos de opinião sobre a temática.
Um ponto quase unânime nas entrevistas era, embora se estivesse de acordo com o debate internacional, pensar como é que está a ser feita a gestão do património que temos nos nossos museus nacionais e instituições similares. O propósito desta mesa é justamente reflectir à volta de como estamos "cá em casa".
The debate on possible Restitution of cultural assets taken from Africa in the colonial context - artefacts, documents, archives, photographs, among others - is one of the issues of Pan-Africanism that has never been resolved, since the old 1950s.
In 2018, however, with the presentation of the Report produced by the Senegalese Economist, Felwine Sarr, and the French Art Historian, Bénédicte Savoy, commissioned by the French President, Emmanuel Macron, this issue has returned to the centre of public sphere. It is in that context that Mbenga Arts and Reflections began to produce reports, news and opinion articles on the subject.
An almost unanimous point in the interviews was, although in agreement with the international debate, to think about how the management of the heritage we have in our national museums and similar institutions is being carried out. The purpose of this table is precisely to reflect around how are we "at home".

António Sopa é formado em História, com especialidade em Documentação. Trabalhou no Arquivo Histórico de Moçambique e foi docente na Universidade Eduardo Mondlane. Prepara actualmente a sua Tese de Doutoramento com o título: "Dicionário de Artes Plásticas em Moçambique (1918-2008)". Entre as suas inúmeras publicações, a mais recente intitula-se "A Alegria é uma coisa rara. Subsídios para a história da música popular urbana em Lourenço Marques (1920-1975)" publicado pela editora Marimbique (Moçambique) e "Campos Oliveira. Voz Inicial" com Nazir Can e Rita Chaves.
Rafael Mouzinho inicia a sua relação com as artes, frequentando o curso de Cerâmica na Escola Nacional de Artes Visuais em Maputo e mais tarde uma formação superior em Artes Visuais no Instituto Superior de Artes e Cultura, em Maputo (2009-2012). Tem conciliado as actividades de artista plástico, de curadoria e da escrita. Tem publicado alguns artigos com destaque para "Atitudes e tendências estéticas". É curador na Colecção de Arte/Galeria da Universidade Eduardo Mondlane e docente de Atelier de Curadoria no Instituto Superior de Artes e Cultura (ISArC). Fez parte do conselho científico para a publicação "Atlantic: Contemporary Art from Mozambique and it's Diaspora", Hangar Books (2020), Lisboa, Portugal.
Rui Laranjeira nasceu em 1971, em Maputo, tendo crescido e estudado na mesma cidade. Tem uma licenciatura em História pela Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, com a tese: "A Marrabenta: sua Evolução e Estilização, 1950-2002" e um Mestrado em Gestão de Património Cultural pela Flinders University, Austrália. Presentemente, encontra-se a fazer o Doutoramento em Estudos do Património na Witwatersrand University, na Wits School of Arts (WSOA). É investigador e Director do Centro de Estudos e Recursos (CER), no Instituto Superior de Artes e Cultura (ISArC). Foi curador do Museu Mafalala e realizador do inventário sobre o património cultural do bairro.
Leonel Matusse Jr é licenciado em Jornalismo, tem
interesse de pesquisa no campo das artes, identidade e cultura, estando neste
momento a testar a influência (ou contaminação) do Renascimento Negro de Harlem
no surgimento da Arte Moderna Moçambicana. É co-fundador da Mbenga Artes e Reflexões e coordenador do website da
referida plataforma. É assistente do Msc. Isaías Fuel, na Escola Superior de
Jornalismo. Além de matérias jornalísticas, tem assinado crónicas, crítica
literária, alguma dispersa de cinema e de música. Tem um conto, intitulado
"Dívidas Ocultas", publicado na colectânea "Crónicas e contos para ler em
casa", coordenada por Mélio Tinga e Eduardo Quive. Durante quatro anos (2016 -
2020) foi jornalista no Jornal Notícias e actualmente é gestor de comunicação
da Fundação Fernando Leite Couto.

António Sopa has a degree in History, specializing in Documentation. He worked in the Historical Archive of Mozambique and was a lecturer at Eduardo Mondlane University. He is currently preparing his PhD thesis entitled: "Dictionary of Visual Arts in Mozambique (1918-2008)". Among his numerous publications, the most recent is entitled "A Alegria é uma coisa rara. Subsidies for the history of urban popular music in Lourenço Marques (1920-1975)" published by Marimbique (Mozambique) and "Campos Oliveira. Voz Inicial" with Nazir Can and Rita Chaves.
Rafael Mouzinho began his relationship with the arts by attending the Ceramics course at the National School of Visual Arts in Maputo and later a higher education course in Visual Arts at the Higher Institute of Arts and Culture in Maputo (2009-2012). He has combined his activities as an artist, curator and writer. He has published some articles with emphasis on "Attitudes and aesthetic trends". He is a curator at the Eduardo Mondlane University Art Collection/Gallery and a lecturer in the Curatorial Workshop at the Instituto Superior de Artes e Cultura (ISArC). He was part of the scientific board for the publication "Atlantic: Contemporary Art from Mozambique and it's Diaspora", Hangar Books (2020), Lisbon, Portugal.

He has a degree in History from the Eduardo Mondlane University, with the thesis: "The Marrabenta: its Evolution and Stylization, 1950-2002" and a Master in Cultural Heritage Management from Flinders University, Australia. He is currently doing his PhD in Heritage Studies at Witwatersrand University, Wits School of Arts (WSOA). He is a researcher and Director of the Centre for Studies and Resources (CER) at the Instituto Superior de Artes e Cultura (ISArC). He was curator of the Mafalala Museum and director of the inventory on the cultural heritage of the neighbourhood.
Leonel Matusse Jr. has a degree in Journalism, has research interests in the field of arts, identity and culture, and is currently testing the influence (or contamination) of the Harlem Black Renaissance in the emergence of Mozambican Modern Art. He is co-founder of Mbenga Artes e Reflexões and coordinator of the website of the referred platform. He is Isaías Fuel's assistant at the School of Journalism. Besides journalistic articles, he has written chronicles, literary criticism, some film and music reviews. He has a short story, entitled "Hidden Debts", published in the collection "Crónicas e contos para ler em casa", coordinated by Mélio Tinga and Eduardo Quive. For four years (2016 - 2020) he was a journalist at Jornal Notícias and is currently communication manager at the Fernando Leite Couto Foundation.
